On September 5th, 1939, a small fleet of armed trawlers from the Royal Terristan Navy launched a surprise attack on the USO battleship Oklahoma, while it was stationed in its home port of Djibouti. The reasons behind the attack were not specified, but many believed that it was in response to the recent breakdown in relations between the USO and Terristan following the terrorist attack on 7/11.
The attack on the Oklahoma caused outrage throughout the USO, and diplomatic attempts to resolve the situation failed to improve relations between the two nations. In fact, the tension between the two sides worsened over the next few months, leading many to fear that a war was imminent.
In January of the following year, Terristan’s admirals convinced their leader, Terry, that they had to make the first strike before the USO or its ally, Louisland, did so. Terry gave the order for his fleet to attack the key port cities of Aden and Zanzibar, with the aim of wiping out both of the enemy’s main fleets.
The attack on Aden did not go as well as the Terristan forces had hoped.
While some ships were sunk and there was heavy damage to battleships and carriers, the attack failed to hit the oil tanks. In the end, the Terristan fleet was successful in in mobilizing the USO fleet but only for a while. However, the attack on Zanzibar was a different story. Led by Admiral Ramesh Kumar, the Terristan fleet caused serious damage to the Louisland fleet stationed there.
Of the four battleships and three aircraft carriers in the Zanzibar port, three battleships and two aircraft carriers were sunk, with many other ships also destroyed. The U-boats sent to attack the port played a significant role in causing the damage. The base itself was also badly damaged, with the surviving ships forced to sail to Mombasa for repairs.
The aftermath of both attacks caused outrage throughout the USO and Louisland, and both governments felt compelled to declare war on Terristan. On February 2nd, the USO declared war, with Louisland following suit the following day. The consequences of these events were far-reaching and had long-lasting impacts. The war between Terristan and the USO would continue for several years, with both sides experiencing significant losses and casualties.
The decision to launch the surprise attack on the Olliholoma and subsequent attacks on Aden and Zanzibar would come to be seen as a critical turning point in the conflict, and one that would shape the course of future events.
